Norma Shug began painting in 1923 and studied locally at the California School of Fine Arts, University of San Francisco, and with Maria von Ridelstein. Married in 1926, as Norma Marotto she did botanical illustrations of California wildflowers for the State of California during the 1930s. A second marriage changed her name to Rodriguez in 1947. During the 1960s and 1970s her work won many awards at local exhibitions. She died in Santa Rosa, California on October 21, 2006.
