Winter shipping (When plant is dormant - no leaves) - with roots wrapped in wet media. Might be pruned or branches bent inside the box if it is outgrows size of the shipping box.
Black locust trees (Robinia pseudoacacia, USDA zones 4 through 8) are at their best in late spring, when trailing clusters of 5-inch, fragrant flowers bloom at the tips on new branches. The flowers attract honeybees, which use the nectar to make excellent honey.
Trees to 20 m with furrowed bark. Herbage glabrate to puberulent. Stems sometimes with nodal spines. Leaves petiolate, odd-pinnate with 9 to 17 ovate to narrowly elliptic leaflets 2â6 cm long with pubescent petiolules; stipules linear, early-deciduous. Inflorescence axillary, pendent, densely-flowered raceme 5â20 cm long. Flowers papilionaceous, white; calyx pubescent; sepals deltoid,1â3 mm long, lower 2 larger; banner 14â19 mm long with a yellow center, ca. as long as the wings and keel; stamens 9 united, 1 separate. Fruit a linear, glabrous legume flattened parallel to the sutures, 4â10 cm long, slightly indented between the seeds
